Intervention Programs

MINILIT

MiniLit – Meeting Initial Needs in Literacy – is an evidence-based, explicit and effective early literacy intervention program that addresses gaps in students’ learning of alphabet sounds, common words and reading accuracy. MiniLit provides intensive learning support in reading to students in Year 1 or 2 where teachers have identified this need.

happy handwriting

Handwriting has an important role from early childhood through to our adult lives, it still remains an important skill for communication.

Legible writing that can be produced comfortably, at speed and with little conscious effort allows a child to attend to the higher-level aspects of writing composition and content. This is important when assessments are based on written work, particularly in time-limited written examinations, which remain a major form of assessment for many formal qualifications.

QUICKSMART

QuickSmart Numeracy focuses on understanding and recall of basic number facts, performance of elementary calculations, acquisition of appropriate mathematics language, and problem-solving skills. The primary aim of QuickSmart is for the students to develop automaticity.

MACQLIT

MacqLit is an explicit and systematic reading intervention program for small groups of older low-progress readers who need to develop rapid, automatic and efficient word recognition strategies. That means the primary focus of MacqLit is on phonics, or word identification, supported by connected text reading to ensure skills are generalised to authentic reading experiences.
