2021 Staff and Class Structure

Leadership

Sue Hartley

Principal

I am very proud to be an educator first and foremost, and even prouder to be the Principal of Scoresby Primary School. I have been with the Department of Education for over 30 years working in schools teaching, coaching and now leading. I love my job and the buzz of school life.

Working with our wonderful SPS students and passionate staff, is a privilege. I respect and deeply value the unique place that any school has in its community, and Scoresby PS is the HEART of our community.

Watching children enter school as Foundation kids; develop their knowledge and navigate their path through primary school, for me, is a joy to be a part of. Children are our future and I love listening to their hopes and dreams. I strive to make strong positive connections with our parents, as I believe it strengthens the educational outcomes for kids.

Out of school I enjoy spending time with my 2 adult kids, my husband and our dogs. I love to cook, read, go on family fishing trips while spending time at Phillip Island.

Nicole Rheumer

Assistant Principal

I am very proud to be the Assistant Principal here at Scoresby PS. This learning community has welcomed me since 2019 and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work along side such a committed staff, capable and delightful students and a parent community who support and guide our learners.

I have worked as a primary school teacher for the last 20+ years with a two-year role in the regional office. Over this time I have worked in many school settings alongside a variety of communities and supported children, teachers and parents to ensure that all children succeed.

When I am not at Scoresby PS, I am busy running after my 10 year old twins and finding some time for my hobbies; gardening, netball and catching up with friends.

I am indeed very fortunate to have been a part of Scoresby Primary for over 25 years. My children were educated here and I have seen lots of wonderful changes and progress in that time. The students are amazing and it is awesome to be greeted out in the community by ex students, now adults, who love to fondly reminisce about their time here. I am a passionate supporter of the Richmond Tigers, love to travel and enjoy hanging out with my dogs, family and grandkids.

Sophie Lyon

Foundation L

It is wonderful to be a part of the Scoresby Primary School community as it is an incredibly welcoming and caring place. I am always delighted to see the way students embrace each other’s differences and look out for each other at our school. It is rewarding to see the innate curiosity our children have for learning more about the world around them and I thoroughly enjoy creating learning experiences that derive from student passions and interests. Outside of school, I love any reason to spend time outside and be active. In my spare time, I enjoy going for bike rides and walks out on forest trails.

Years 1/2

Katherine Matthews

Literacy Learning Specialist, Level Coordinator and 1/2K

One of my early childhood memories is being taken into my mother’s classroom aged 4 in the absence of childcare or preschool in 1970s Scotland. I was strictly told not to call her “mum” when the department inspectors came! Some years later, I followed her vocation into primary school education. Who knew the early impression of a classroom as a home away from home would have such an impact? For me teaching is a passion as much as a career choice. As the Literacy Learning Specialist, every child in our caring, welcoming Scoresby Primary School is important to me. We aim high for all students to achieve their potential and I am proud to be part of that.

Kellie Symons

1/2K

I am very lucky to have been part of the fantastic Scoresby Primary School staff and community for many years. I love watching each individual student learn and reach their full potential. I have been fortunate enough to teach all year levels and PE, but I am currently loving working with the wonderful 1/2 students and staff. When I’m not at work I am busy with my family. Weekends are spent taking my children to their sporting activities and squeezing in some tennis for me. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book.

Caroline Foenander

In my classroom, I am passionate about creating a welcoming environment where all students are excited about their learning and develop to their full potential. It is a privilege to be a part of their growth as I grow alongside them. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing board games, watching movies and making memories at the beach on sunny days.

Being a part of the Scoresby Primary School family is something that I am truly grateful for.

Watching my students flourish holistically as capable and confident learners enlightens my heart and reminds me why I pursued this career. I am passionate about building positive relationships with students by having lots of fun in class and creating a safe environment for children to be themselves in. When I'm not at work, I enjoy keeping active, cooking foods from different cultures and relaxing in the sun at the beach.

Scoresby Primary School is a fantastic place! My colleagues are brilliant and my students never cease to amaze me with their creative talents and courage to explore new ideas and skills. I have taught at SPS for twenty or so years teaching Performing Arts and more recently Visual Arts. I love teaching every student in the school and witnessing their growth and development over seven years. Outside of teaching my hobbies include being with my family especially my three granddaughters, reading, watching nature (sunrises, storms, or even an ant colony) and travelling through outback Australia.

Han Hung

Mandarin

I feel so blessed to be part of a team at the Scoresby Primary School community. I am especially impressed by the way that Scoresby wider community has embraced the language program. Our teachers always want to learn a thing or two about China whether it’s a simple word in Mandarin like how to say Hello or something cultural like festivals celebrated in China. I believe that relationship building with students is very important and I love to get to know our students. I am passionate to engage my students in using song, dance and games. I would love my students to feel that learning languages is something they can have a go at. It brings me joy to hear of students keeps singing a song we been learning while exiting my classroom. I look forward to students taking an initiative in their future learning.

Jarren Boyd

Performing Arts

I feel very fortunate to be a teacher within the Scoresby Primary School community and a part of our Specialist Teaching Team. My overarching approach to teaching and learning is to view each class as an ensemble within itself whereby students progressively take ownership of their parts and work together as a team. I ensure that there is a practical and fun element in each lesson, as I believe that ‘hands on instruments’ time is when the deepest learning occurs. I design programs so that peer-to-peer transfer of knowledge is facilitated, that intrinsic motivation is fostered and that students are progressing towards independent learning.

School Chaplain

Lyndal Ihle

I am grateful to be part of the Scoresby P.S. community. As the School Chaplain, I have the privilege of journeying with children (and their families), hearing and valuing their stories and using the latest brain science to provide trauma informed approaches. I am a Creative Arts Counsellor, Mum and Children’s Author. My children’s picture book is titled A Rainbow of Fun and is a story about being different, being brave and being yourself. I have previously worked with a therapy dog and currently have another two gorgeous dogs 'in training'. Outside of school I love writing, singing, yoga, animals, rainbows, dressing gowns and slippers, and curling up in front of an open fire.

Taffy

Taffy is our school therapy dog, who escorts Lyndal our Chaplain when she works at Scoresby PS. Taffy is a five year old cavoodle how has a very sweet and gentle temperament. Students love to help Taffy with her latest trick, race her on the basketball court and make daisy chains with her. She also enjoys a good game of "hide the treat! "Taffy is one of our Scoresby Super Stars

I feel so lucky to be part of the wonderful community that is Scoresby Primary School. Working with our students is the most rewarding job I could ask for, helping to support and watch these young people learn and grow in so many ways during their primary school years. As well as being a busy Mum of three awesome boys, I love reading, cooking, sewing/crafts and spending time with my family, especially our dinner time chats.

Tracey Raymer

I have been working at SPS since 2004, over this time, I have had the privilege of watching students progress from foundation to graduating grade six, confident and ready to experience their years to come. It is my absolute pleasure and privilege to be a long-time member of staff at Scoresby Primary School. Starting at SPS in 2004, I relish the many wonderful opportunities I have here to support students in their primary education journey. Over the years this has been (and continues to be) in various capacities within my Education Support Staff role – currently QuickSmart Instructor, MiniLit Instructor, Integration Aide and Library Technician…and it’s impossible to say which I love the most! In addition to supporting the students, I also enjoy creating our fortnightly whole-school newsletter as a key home-school communication tool for our families. I love being a part of the Scoresby Primary School community!

Sharon Chen

Born in a far north border town between China and Mongolia. I never thought I'd call Australia home one day from the Southern Hemisphere. The only-child happy and unspoiled, made my parents pleased. A teacher dream withheld since little, sadly never seized. Graduated, married and worked hard aiming to succeed. Until an awakening call asked me to change the life once I lived. The day I met Scoresby and Mrs. Hartley became my time to reset. I was delighted and thrilled to find a new place to connect. Come to school every day, feeling the joy over the moon. Helping our teachers sow and our students grow, singing along to our Heart tune...

Samantha Edwards

I have been working at Scoresby PS since 2017 providing Education Support to children on the PSD program as well as those who may need some extra support in the school environment. I have been lucky enough to work across all levels during my time at SPS and enjoy developing dependable relationships with all the students. I love that SPS is a smaller school which allows both staff and students to really get to know each other. My focus is on students well being, inclusion, resilience and developing good respectful relationships within their community. I am a parent to 24 year old twins and a 9 year old who attends SPS. In my down time, I enjoy exploring our wonderful state and hanging out with my family. One of the things that makes me proud to work at Scoresby PS is the emphasis teachers place on the importance of knowing the children’s individual needs, and the relationships between staff and students.

Tania Librio

Scoresby Primary School is a warm, positive and safe environment which allows our students to learn and grow. Watching them smile and achieve their goals is extremely rewarding and makes me feel incredibly grateful to be part of our amazing SPS community. Being able to make a positive impact in a child’s life is something truly special. Away from work, I like to spend time with family, friends and my dog.
