2024 Staff and Class Structure

Leadership

Sue Hartley

Principal

I am very proud to be an educator first and foremost, and even prouder to be the Principal of Scoresby Primary School. I have been with the Department of Education for over 30 years working in schools teaching, coaching and now leading. I love my job and the buzz of school life.

Working with our wonderful SPS students and passionate staff, is a privilege. I respect and deeply value the unique place that any school has in its community, and Scoresby PS is the HEART of our community.

Watching children enter school as Foundation kids; develop their knowledge and navigate their path through primary school, for me, is a joy to be a part of. Children are our future and I love listening to their hopes and dreams. I strive to make strong positive connections with our parents, as I believe it strengthens the educational outcomes for kids.

Out of school I enjoy spending time with my 2 adult kids, my husband and our dogs. I love to cook, read, go on family fishing trips while spending time at Phillip Island.

Nicole Rheumer

Assistant Principal

I am very proud to be the Assistant Principal here at Scoresby PS. This learning community has welcomed me since 2019 and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work along side such a committed staff, capable and delightful students and a parent community who support and guide our learners.

I have worked as a primary school teacher for the last 20+ years with a two-year role in the regional office. Over this time I have worked in many school settings alongside a variety of communities and supported children, teachers and parents to ensure that all children succeed.

When I am not at Scoresby PS, I am busy running after my 10 year old twins and finding some time for my hobbies; gardening, netball and catching up with friends.

I am indeed very fortunate to have been a part of Scoresby Primary for over 25 years. My children were educated here and I have seen lots of wonderful changes and progress in that time. The students are amazing and it is awesome to be greeted out in the community by ex students, now adults, who love to fondly reminisce about their time here. I am a passionate supporter of the Richmond Tigers, love to travel and enjoy hanging out with my dogs, family and grandkids.

I am delighted to be part of the teaching staff at Scoresby Primary this year. Entering my second year of teaching, I've transitioned from a larger school and am truly appreciating the close-knit community here at Scoresby. Building meaningful connections with students, both within my class and across the school, brings me immense joy. Witnessing their growth academically, personally, and socially is immensely rewarding, as it helps them cultivate their best selves. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy travelling to new and exciting places and cherishing moments with my family and young daughter.

Visual Arts 3-6 PE

Scoresby Primary School is a fantastic place! My colleagues are brilliant and my students never cease to amaze me with their creative talents and courage to explore new ideas and skills. I have taught at SPS for twenty or so years teaching Performing Arts and more recently Visual Arts. I love teaching every student in the school and witnessing their growth and development over seven years. Outside of teaching my hobbies include being with my family especially my grandchildren, reading, watching nature (sunrises, storms, or even an ant colony) and travelling through outback Australia.

Jarren Boyd

Performing Arts
F- 2 PE

I feel very fortunate to be a teacher within the Scoresby Primary School community and a part of our Specialist Teaching Team. My overarching approach to teaching and learning is to view each class as an ensemble within itself whereby students progressively take ownership of their parts and work together as a team. I ensure that there is a practical and fun element in each lesson, as I believe that ‘hands on instruments’ time is when the deepest learning occurs. I design programs so that peer-to-peer transfer of knowledge is facilitated, that intrinsic motivation is fostered and that students are progressing towards independent learning.

Sally Hou

你(nǐ)好(hǎo)(Hello)!I began my teaching profession at SPS last year and it has been a pleasure to work here. My colleagues are supportive to each other and students are joyful to teach. I love to use different teaching strategies to consolidate students’ knowledge in Mandarin classes and I expect to see my students achieving their best in Mandarin classes in accordance with Scoresby School Value and Vision. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, playing the keyboard, and visiting different places to try delicious food with my family. We also love discovering new places to play together.

I feel so lucky to be part of the wonderful community that is Scoresby Primary School. Working with our students is the most rewarding job I could ask for, helping to support and watch these young people learn and grow in so many ways during their primary school years. As well as being a busy Mum of three awesome boys, I love reading, cooking, sewing/crafts and spending time with my family, especially our dinner time chats.

Hi, my name is Joshua Arnold and I have been at Scoresby Primary School since 2017. I enjoy working at Scoresby Primary School with such wonderful staff and students. The most fulfilling part of my job is watching the students learn, achieve goals and grow at Scoresby Primary School. It is rewarding to see students be excited about what they are learning and engaged in what they are learning. Outside of Scoresby Primary School, I like watching basketball and football, playing video games and watching movies.

Alison Lancashire

It is my absolute pleasure and privilege to be a long-time member of staff at Scoresby Primary School. Starting at SPS in 2004, I relish the many wonderful opportunities I have here to support students in their primary education journey. Over the years this has been (and continues to be) in various capacities within my Education Support Staff role – currently QuickSmart Instructor, MiniLit and MacqLit Instructor and Library Technician…and it’s impossible to say which I love the most! In addition to supporting the students, I also enjoy creating our fortnightly whole-school newsletter as a key home-school communication tool for our families. I love being a part of the Scoresby Primary School community!

Sharon Chen

Born in a far north border town between China and Mongolia. I never thought I'd call Australia home one day from the Southern Hemisphere. The only-child happy and unspoiled, made my parents pleased. A teacher dream withheld since little, sadly never seized. Graduated, married and worked hard aiming to succeed. Until an awakening call asked me to change the life once I lived. The day I met Scoresby and Mrs. Hartley became my time to reset. I was delighted and thrilled to find a new place to connect. Come to school every day, feeling the joy over the moon. Helping our teachers sow and our students grow, singing along to our Heart tune...

Samantha Edwards

I have been working at Scoresby PS since 2017 providing Education Support to children on the PSD program as well as those who may need some extra support in the school environment. I have been lucky enough to work across all levels during my time at SPS and enjoy developing dependable relationships with all the students. I love that SPS is a smaller school which allows both staff and students to really get to know each other. My focus is on students well being, inclusion, resilience and developing good respectful relationships within their community. I am a parent to 24 year old twins and a 9 year old who attends SPS. In my down time, I enjoy exploring our wonderful state and hanging out with my family. One of the things that makes me proud to work at Scoresby PS is the emphasis teachers place on the importance of knowing the children’s individual needs, and the relationships between staff and students.

School Chaplain

Scoresby Primary is a welcoming, inclusive community which I am very grateful to be part of.

I have the privilege of working with students individually, in small groups, and during class time.

As a member of the wellbeing team, collaboration with staff, care givers and families provides opportunities to understand and address needs of students in an approachable, effective, and caring manner.

You will often find me outside amongst our school community during end of day pick up. Please introduce yourself as I welcome the opportunity to have a chat.
