Scoresby Primary School offers a Breakfast Club to all students every Wednesday morning. The Breakfast Club program is a joint venture between the Victorian Government and Food Bank, to provide a healthy breakfast for students to start the day.
Every Wednesday the children are able to have their breakfast at school between 8:15am to 8:45am. Students are encouraged to come along and have breakfast with their peers. Staff and parents assist with the program.
Every child across the school is invited to participate in Breakfast Club, and dietary restrictions / allergies are catered for. Some menu options include:

Scoresby Primary School’s camping program aims to assist students to develop levels of independence appropriate for their age group and to experience a range of educational activities. Children have the opportunity to experience food and accommodation in a caring environment away from their families.
> A biannual 2 night / three day camp at Camp Oasis at Mount Evelyn with teachers and education Support staff. (even year)
> 2 night / 3 day adventure camp at Summit camp in Trafalgar (even years)
We believe that direct experiences bring the learning alive. At Scoresby Primary School students regularly participate in excursions or incursions that support the learning in the classroom. These experiences vary from year to year and term to term depending on the educational focus.
Usually one or two major excursions are planned per year and one minor excursion or visiting speaker is planned for each term.
Scoresby Primary School is committed to meeting the educational needs of all our students. We provide the opportunity for students to participate in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools, commonly referred to as ICAS.
ICAS are online assessments that are designed to recognise and reward academic excellence.
Please note, at Scoresby Primary School these are optional assessments and are most suitable for those students who have the ability to apply learning in new contexts, using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. The curriculum-based assessments are connected to the relevant years of schooling and will challenge participants to demonstrate a deeper, integrated, and thorough level of learning. If students are interested, they can choose to complete 1, 2, 3 or more of the assessments.
Our Scoresby Primary School Instrumental Music Program is run on a weekly basis by Creative Music for Schools. They provide high quality extra-curricular music education for a variety of instruments and create a fun environment in which students can build a solid foundation for ongoing musical development. Instruments are available for purchase or hire through the program.
Most importantly, we pass on the joy of playing a musical instrument. The program operates within the school facilities and timetable but is administered independently with a small team of highly qualified, dedicated and passionate tutors.
Scoresby Primary School has a comprehensive sport program coordinated by the Physical Education leader. Through our involvement in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) pathway, our 9-12 year olds participate in swimming, cross country and athletics. Teams are selected to compete in district, divisional and regional carnivals with the prospect to compete at state level.
Year 5 and 6 students participate in interschool sport against our District schools on 2 round robin sport days both summer and winter. Winter sports include football, netball, soccer and tee ball, while summer sport includes cricket, rounders We also participate in Hooptime which is a basketball competition run by Basketball Victoria with our Year 3 to Year 6.
Our students partake in a variety of sporting clinics including, tennis, AFL. Gymnastics, Hockey
The whole school enjoys the House Cross Country and Twilight Sports.
The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program offers dynamic hands on practical learning at Scoresby Primary School. Students spend time in the school’s organic sustainable gardens once a fortnight. The Gardens have been designed and built by the students, and are maintained by them with the assistance of the Garden Specialist.
The students participate in every aspect of gardening from compost making, soil preparation, seed collection, propagation, and maintenance. More than just gardening the SAKG program is also about giving students the opportunities to develop life skills such as how to work together as a team, how to communicate effectively and how to work in alternative settings, problem solving and creative thinking.
‘For two weeks’ of every second year, all students are given the opportunity to participate in the Life Education Program. The primary school program consists of curriculum based modules focusing on issues around food and nutrition, personal safety, physical activity, cyber safety and safety with medicine and legal drugs.
By taking a comprehensive approach to health education the modules help children to develop relationship skills, positive communication (both face to face and online), problem solving and decision making skills. Each module presents an issue or issues with memorable and engaging activities. The specially trained educators ensure that all messages are age-appropriate, relevant and enhance and support the messages taught in Australian schools.
Lunchtime Activities are particularly appreciated by those students who find navigating the playground a little overwhelming. Some students struggle with the lack of structure in the playground and prefer activities that are guided by a teacher or another student.Â
Other students may find it difficult to initiate or maintain friendships or may be interested in quieter activities not usually available outside. Friendships blossom between children who find a common interest, and who they may not otherwise have met. Bringing students together from all year levels also supports buddy friendships and social groups.
The programs are organised by our Student Leaders who generously share their expertise (and forego their lunch break!) to make Lunchtime Activities a fun and valuable experience for students.
Using a problem solving approach is of particular value to students of all ages. The APSMO Maths programs, encourage students from year 1 to year 6 to collaborate with their peers and work together to make decisions about the way they explore a problem, regardless of their abilities.
Whether your students are mainstream or high-achieving, the APSMO Maths Programs will develop their skills and knowledge in the field of maths problem solving. .

The Victorian State Schools Spectacular is an incredible opportunity for government school students to unite and showcase a wide range of creative and performing arts. Our school is traditionally involved in the Mass Dance, part of the show and interested students do not need to have any prior experience in dancing or singing.
Each Wednesday morning, in terms 1 and 2, students get the opportunity to work on their fitness by running, jogging or walking laps of our school running track. Running Club is open to all year levels, all abilities and parents and family are welcome to join us. Several students use Running Club as a way of training for Cross country

School Productions are one of the highlights of every students time at Scoresby Primary School. Our school productions are held every second year and involve all students from Foundation to Year 6. Beyond the production itself, it also provides a great opportunity for parents to see performances from the choirs and those students learning a musical instrument, such as guitar, drums or violin.
All the children are able to shine in their own grade groups as they provide magical moments on stage as well as group numbers that provide a fun, entertaining and rewarding night for both parents and their children.
> Prep – Year 4 students have the opportunity to participate in a two week intensive swimming program (every year). The program aims to develop each child’s water confidence, swimming ability and awareness of water safety.
> Year 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to participate in The Beach Program at the Beaumaris Life Saving Club. The Beach Program is a fun program to introduce the basics of lifesaving and water safety at the beach. It consists of both dry and wet sessions where the students learn the fundamentals of rescues, survival techniques, rips, tides and body surfing.
The Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series provides enrichment opportunities and activities across the curriculum to extend high-ability students from Prep to Year 12 in Victorian government schools.
The Victorian High-Ability Program is a DET run program designed to identify and lift the performance of our high ability students in year 5 and 6. It is a 10 week virtual program enrichment program.
Delivery will be through composite classes of students in Years 5 – 6:
This program will focus on tasks that stimulate students’ critical thinking, problem solving and creativity – enriching their understanding of English and Mathematics. The program will not focus on accelerating students through core Victorian Curriculum content.
Scoresby Primary School participates in the annual Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (PRC) to promote the importance of reading among students in Victorian schools and to encourage families and parents to be more involved with supporting children’s reading, in and beyond school.
Students and their parents can manage their own reading records online from any internet connection such as home or a public library. Students have the opportunity to access the website at school to manage their records.
Students who meet the Challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement and can have their name published online.
